So, how do you find the right technology to have a positive impact on your business?
‘Switched on’, ‘connected’, ‘online’ whatever term you use, choosing the right technology for your business needs can be a minefield. You want to choose tech that enhances your business processes, speeds up communication, reduces wasted time and increases efficiencies, to ultimately make your business more profitable, whilst at the same time, where possible, saving money or at least keeping costs under control.
Technology however, has to work ‘hand in hand’ with your staff, the lifeblood of any business. If employees aren’t fully on board and using the technology to its full potential, then you are on a hiding to nothing. Integrated business systems need everyone’s ‘buy in’. From Apps, CRM, to digital filing and storage solutions to unified communications, in short, it needs to ‘join up’ all the dots.
Think of it this way, anything on your network such as; PC’s , Servers, Phone systems, Printers, Copiers etc. need to be up to current software standards, as well as being secure, to prevent hacking, viruses and ‘glitches in the operating systems’. Make sure the tech you adopt is fit for purpose and future-proof. Get training from your provider to ensure user uptake and satisfaction, implement best practice policies such as password protection, regular system updates and monitoring, printing policies and digital filing solutions to reduce paper usage, as well as finding ways to reduce the business carbon footprint.
There are a lot of providers out there, do your homework to find the one that best fits with your business. Ask questions to gain clarity and speak to their current customers to get honest feedback. It's a long term relationship so you want to know your business is in safe, capable and responsive hands.
