Soggy Newman Golf Day Makes a Splash of Cash for Charity

Newman, who are normally best known for their IT, print management, dictation and telecoms integration turned their hand once again to hosting a golf day. The wind blew wild and the rain teemed it down, but that didn’t deter the teams of intrepid golfers who boldly took the elements in their stride at the recent Newman Charity Golf Day at the Nevill.

This years’ event was held in order to raise funds for the Charity ‘Burning Nights’ which supports those diagnosed with the little known Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). An average of 300 people a week in the UK are diagnosed with this debilitating condition, there are no known cures and little research is currently undertaken in the UK.

Throughout the golf day, participants, who came from businesses across Kent, Sussex and Surrey took part in fun competitions such as longest drive, nearest the pin, hit the green to double your money, nearest the pin in 2 and heads and tails all in aid of raising valuable funds, whilst also having the opportunity to network.

The event raised an impressive £3000 for ‘Burning Nights’. The charity’s founder and double amputee as a result of the condition Victoria Abbott-Fleming said “We are trying to reach out to more people with this condition, as a small charity every penny donated counts.  Some of the money raised from the Newman golf day will go towards the UK’s first CRPS Information Centre, where patients and their families can come and speak to other patients as well as getting help and advice about living with the condition. We will also be bringing in a psychologist once a month for patients to access free of charge.”

Andrew Deadman, Managing Director of Newman stated “We are delighted with the response to this event. We are very grateful for all the support and donations given by all the teams and sponsors who have helped raised these vital funds for our chosen charity Burning Nights”.

A provisional date for next years event is already in the diary for Friday 25th September 2020. In the same year Newman will be celebrating 40 years in business, so there is much to look forward to.
