The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has some very useful advice to help keep your business safe from Cyber risks.
Cybersecurity is everyoneâs responsibilityânot just IT. Whether you’re in HR, finance, customer service, or operations, you play a vital role in keeping your organisation safe from cyber threats.
The NCSC has released a helpful infographic titled âStay Safe Online: Top Tips for Staffâ, and weâve summarised the key points below to help you stay secure at work and beyond. You’ll find a link to the NCSC article the end of this summary.
đ Use Strong Passwords
- Create passwords using three random words (e.g., applecarpetmoon).
- Donât reuse passwords across accounts.
- Enable two-step verification (2SV) wherever possible.
- Life can be made easier by using a Password Manager, safely storing all your unique passwords.
- If you must write down passwords, store them securely in a separate place to your computer.
đ§ Watch Out for Phishing
- Be cautious of emails that feel urgent or unusual.
- If the senders writing style seems different to normal, check with them directly, and not by emailing them back.
- Donât click on suspicious linksâreport them.
- If something doesnât feel right, trust your instincts.

- Keep your software up to date.
- Lock your device when not in use.
- Only download apps from official app stores.

- If you suspect a cyber issue, report it immediately.
- Contact IT or your line manager.
- Even if you’ve done something like clicking an unknown link, report it.
- Donât waitâearly reporting can prevent bigger problems.
